Don’t think your vote counts? Check out this year’s photo finish between two very different forays into a bygone America. Our voracious readers saluted most of the same 20 films as in last issue’s survey of critics, but overruled them to boost Django Unchained (#6), Argo (#11), and Looper (#14). Note: Numbers in parentheses refer to the film’s ranking in the Critics’ Poll (Jan/Feb 2013). For each ballot, a first-place choice was allotted 20 points, 19 for second, and so on. Congratulations to the winners selected randomly from this year’s poll participants to receive Criterion Collection DVDs of their choice: Mitch Anderson of Rumley, MI (First Prize); Louise Jaubert of Arundel, ME (Second Prize); and Tim Streb of San Francisco, CA, and Joaquin Villalobos of Denver, CO (Third and Fourth Prizes). And many thanks to Criterion for its generous donation of prizes.
